Fancy Baths & Hand Basins – So Very British
I was watching a brilliant programme on tv the other week. A documentary in a regular series about goods manufactured in Great Britain. We have been raher used to beating ourselves up and assuming we have to import everything. This is certainly not the case. One of the editions was based in a porcelain works in the black country where they still make a huge number of very beautiful baths, hand wash basins and toilets. It’s true to say that the grand victorian penchant for highly painted and decorated bowls and toilet cisterns has not returned thus far, but we are far more discerning in our choice of sanitary ware when upgrading and refurbishing. The British manufacturers are second to none at designing safe, useable products – and they keep a huge number of folk employed at it. I was amazed at how many different styles of bath and wash hand basin are available to choose from – unless you see a showroom or catalogue, it’s easy to think the 3 or 4 styles on offer in your local out of town diy emporium is all we can have. Wrong – go have a look online and be totally smitten, like me!
