Plumbing Problems Needs Basic Knowledge
There are many aspects of looking after the domestic home that require more technical knowledge than others. Plumbing basics – very few youngsters come out of school or college knowing the first thing about how to stop taps from dripping for example. There will therefore be even fewer who know that undoing an S-bend in a basin down pipe is the plumbing basics way of clearing a blockage. If you suspect a blocked pipe because the wash basin’s now not emptying, then some gunk must have collected and will need clearing. Sometimes pushing down a rod on a wire will poke a suitable hole in the gunk so that it then breaks up. Not usually successful but a good try. A plunger will do the trick – this is a large rubber cup on a sturdy long handle. The cup is pushed down over the plughole, through the standing water. Once happy that there is a seal around the base of the cup, pull it up firmly and quickly to release the vacuum and hopefully disperse the muck ball. Failing these, get in a plumber to do it and show you the safe way!
